I understand the need to work through copyright, especially in regard to mash-ups - API's etc.

Congratulations - looks great - and obviously reflects a mile of thinking and woirk.
One big point for me is the question of sharing and personlisation - i.e. why can't I send an item out onto a Fecebook group - Twitter it - or even better take it...
I have a strong interest in how collection insitutions can use the Creative Commons framework

Ah yes. There is agreement that it's all about the user, but many museums still talk the talk and not walk the walk!

GLAM Wiki Day One
It is day one of the GLAM Wikimedia event here at the Australia War Memorial Museum. There are at least 150 people in the room - mostly from the Australian collection sector. A few people from NZ, including DNZ and Museums Aotearoa. And me, wearing the Adjunct Director, National Library, NZ, hat.

National Portrait Gallery - Wikimedia Commons - Bleak House 2.0
National Portrait Gallery London
The National Portrait Gallery in London, NPG, is currently in legal dispute with the Wikimedia Commons and a user who scraped 3000 images from the NPG web site and put them up on Wikimedia Commons, here. The claim is that as the works are all 19th century or earlier they are all in the public domain, and so available for fair use.

I like this one from Pattie Maes' lab at MIT. She talks about, and demonstrates a wearable device with a projector that paves the way for what they call a " profound interaction with our environment. Imagine "Minority Report" and then some."
I think it is a very useful framework to be thinking about where we are going with digital.

A few months ago, and I must get people to write an affidavit to confirm this, I babbled away to a some colleagues/partners/clients in the local NZ arts, gallery and library world about developing what I called - GLAM TV - i.e. an online video/audio station/tool which would be a place where we could see and hear what was happening inside the Australasian world of galleries libraries, and museums.
