Hi all, you might be interested in an online project we've just launched here at the National Museum of Australia. It is called 'Changing Places'. The idea is to invite Australians to upload photos onto Flickr which show something of the way human induced climate change is changing places they know and love, and to provide comments on how these changes are affecting the way they think and act. As a history museum, not a science museum, our interests lie primarily in the cultural dimensions of this issue. We are encouraging people to express their emotional responses to climate change, and hopefully help people through the cultural processes necessary to face the scale of this phenomenon. The link is http://www.flickr.com/groups/changingplaces/. Please spread the word, and contribute if like... Thanks, George.

Bridget - I have shared this with the Professional Interest Committee of The American Association of Museums - PIC Green. We'd like to take a couple weeks to have a look at it and share comments that I will share with the group all at once. Do you have a time frame for responses?

This represents a substantial amount of thoughtful work. Thank you from all of us!

I've started work on a Framework for Climate Action in Culture & Heritage organisations. It is in draft form and seeking responses. As it grows it will go online and include resources/case studies etc. I'm taking this to a UK meeting at DCMS (our Government department for culture, media & sport) which is about how the sector needs to adapt to climate change. I'm considering using this as a basis for an international network of 'climate brokers' in the sector i.e. people who subscribe to the framework and deliver aspects of big challenge to mitigate & adapt to climate change. I'd be very grateful for your views. You can find it on the latest post on http://ecoch.wordpress.com

Thanks, Bridget

Hello,
Bridget macKenzie published a post from myself on the blog Ecology in cultural heritage: http://ecoch.wordpress.com/2009/06/29/climate-change-and-museums-in-france-by-marine-soichot/
This is on climate change in the French context. There will be two other posts more focused on museum.

Thank you Linda.
I will read it in deep and perhaps I will add it to my reserach field (if I have enough time...)

Hello,
I am new on Museum 3.0. I am very interessed in this group. Indeed, I am a PhD student and my work is on how science museums cover climate change. I would be plesead to hear about your experience on this topic.
If you want to know more about my work, have a look on my web site (www.soichot.com/research) and feel free to contact me.
I hope we will have usefull exchanges.
(Please excuse my english, it is not my monther tongue)

Check out our Climate Change Facebook group - we're using it as an interim solution to post content and engage with people while we're still finalising our new website.

Thanks for starting this group. I've been concerned for some time about a lack of attention to climate change and ecology in the cultural sector, especially in museums & heritage, especially at the policy level. I've started a group blog called Ecology in Cultural Heritage http://ecoch.wordpress.com/
I'm keen to invite more people to be authors, from anywhere in the world, and will try to remember to flag up new posts. Please get in touch with me on bridget.mckenzie@flowassociates.com if you'd like to be a co-author, or if you'd like me to blog about anything for you.

An interesting group perhaps? - Open Forum is an independent collaborative think-tank built around an interactive discussion website hosted and moderated by Global Access Partners (GAP). It provides a platform for focused dialogue on social, political, economic, ecological and cultural issues and challenges.
