This week we will conclude this round of The Tech Virtual Trainings and Conference.

(Session 11) The basics of The Tech Virtual platform (1 hour)

The place of this prototyping in the course of overall exhibit developmenet. How exhibits "projects" are described, developed, and completed. How employees and volunteers can participate in the program. How museums can participate in the program. Cost savings. Technical considerations for setting up participation. Benefits in testing and prototyping exhibits online. Virtual community, incentives. Led by Bob Ketner.

(Session 12) The basics of The Second Life platform (1 hour)
Thu. July 2 9AM PDT (GMT -7) and 5PM PDT (GMT-7)
The basics of the Second Life environment. Unique features. Technical considerations. User considerations. Creating an account. Locating The Tech Virtual workshop environment. Basic features: chat, voice, building tools, workshop areas, resources. Overview of "building" and "scripting". Example exhibit development. Noted limitations and how to overcome them. Alternatives to using Second Life and additional resources. Installing listed software. Led by Bob Ketner.
