Museum 3.0

what will the museum of the future be like?

Mixing existing archive with personal reminiscence

Published today by Katrina Kirkwood is a new Rhondda Lives digital stories website - www.rhonddalives.org.uk

I enjoyed being involved in Rhondda Lives, mostly in the early stages. Here's my description of the methodology we used in the first workshop http://www.aberth.com/blog/archive-meets-storytelling.html . Katrina Kirkwood deserves praise for the fantastic work she did with Valleys Kids in developing the form. She outlines the rationale behind the project on her site and there's a description of how the stories were made.

There are 80 stories to view. If you'd like a suggestion of one to watch first, try Lilian Hobbs’s story about the two-foot-eight: http://www.rhonddalives.org.uk/htmlPages/miningStoriesHTml/LilianHo...

It's great to see a melding of existing public archive with personal storytelling by members of the communities depicted in the archive.
