A masterclass, led by Dr Lynda Kelly, Head, Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, Web and Audience Research. Among the key issues to be addressed will be:
* How to obtain sustainable, ongoing funding to support
long-term programmes which make a difference
* How to evaluate the short- and long-term impact of your
projects
* How to reaching the most excluded groups or individuals
* How to prioritise your work among the various communities
* How to use new community-based communication media
* How to build the right organisational structure to deliver
effective programmes
* What can be learnt from the experience of other sectors
working in these fields
About the presenter: Dr Lynda Kelly is the Head of Audience Research at the Australian Museum, Sydney. She has published widely in museum evaluation and writes the Audience Research in museums blog with a readership of around 500 per month. Dr Kelly is particularly interested in visitor experiences and learning and how these can be measured; young children's learning, Indigenous evaluation, as well as the strategic uses of audience research and new technologies in organisational change. She happily obsessed with all things Web 2.0 and is curious to see how this will change the world that museums operate within and the ways people learn. In 2007 she completed her PhD in museum learning.
For the next 12 months (to September 2010) Dr Kelly will also be responsible for the overall management of the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes (AMEP) and the Museum's Web Unit, delivering on AMEP's 20th anniversary and the website rebuild.
